The Underwood Brothers are familiar faces to the Adelaide racing scene. You’ll see their name on just about every start list that involves two wheels. Liam (14yrs) and Ryan (12yrs) race across track, road, gravel, XC mountain bike and gravel. At such young ages, they certainly have lots of racing experience under the legs thus far and are looking to be some great talents for the future.
We asked the boys a few questions to learn more about them as riders and their inspirations.
When did the boys start racing?
The boys started racing BMX when they were 7 and 5. Just a few years later they started their first road race aged 10 and 8.
What’s their favourite discipline?
Liam: Road because there are so many possible outcomes to a race and plenty of options to go and explore in training.
Ryan: Road because the Adelaide Hills is one of the best places in the world to ride! And you can ride with your mates.
Favourite Race:
Liam: Flanders because there is cobbles and hills.
Ryan: Parix Roubaix because it is such a hard race and finishes on the velodrome.
Favourite Rider:
Liam: Mathieu van der Poel because he races just about every discipline, and I love his aggressive riding style.
Ryan: Alex Manly because she races track and road for the Australian Cycling Team and is friendly!
Thanks @Rideadelaide for the photos
If you see the Underwood Brothers out riding or racing, be sure to give them a big cheer and a wave.
]]>Today, August 29th 2020, saw tight competition on the road from Nice to Nice to Nice for a 96 km Women's World Tour Race. The route for this event meant the riders had to battle climbing the Apremont twice, peaking at 489 m. The women must ride over the Cote de Rimiez at 310m within only 8 km of the start. Feast your eyes on all the photos of what proved to be highly competitive to the end. All photos published here of Amaury Sport Organisation.
