Page title: Cycling Clothing Size Guide Australia | Castelli, Santini, MAAP | Cycle Closet
Cycling apparel sizing varies more between brands than almost any other category of clothing. Italian brands cut to a race fit and commonly run a full size smaller than Australian expectations, while American and Australian brands sit closer to true. This page gives you the measurement chart for every brand we stock, so you can order once and keep it.

Fit at a glance
| Brand | How it runs | If you are between sizes |
|---|---|---|
| Castelli | Small, race fit | Size up unless you want it tight |
| Santini | Small, race fit | Size up unless you want it tight |
| Assos | Small, very close fitting | Size up |
| MAAP | Close to true | Down for tight, up for relaxed |
| Pearl Izumi | Close to true, roomier cut | Take your normal size |
| Isadore | Relaxed | Take your normal size or down |
Two rules that work across every brand:
- Buying a jacket to wear over a jersey? Take your normal size or size up.
- Buying a thermal jersey to wear under a jacket? Size down if you are between sizes and want it close.
How to measure
- Chest: under your arms, around the fullest part, arms relaxed at your sides
- Waist: around your natural waistline, tape held loose
- Hips: around the widest part
- Inseam: from crotch to floor, no shoes
Measure over the underwear you would ride in and keep the tape horizontal. Every measurement on this page is in centimetres and refers to your body, not the garment.
Castelli size chart
Castelli figures are the maximum body measurement for that size, so read down to the first number you are under. Every other brand on this page gives ranges. Jackets built to layer over a jersey (Perfetto, Gabba, Alpha) run closer to true than the rest of the range.

Isadore, Assos and other brands
Isadore runs a relaxed fit compared with Italian brands, and most riders take their normal size. Assos cuts very close and uses its own sizing system, so most riders take one size larger than they expect.
We have not published measurement tables for these two yet because we will not put up numbers we cannot verify against the brand. A wrong chart costs you a return and costs us your trust. We are chasing both through our distributors.
In the meantime, and for any brand not listed above, send us your measurements and the product you are looking at, and our staff will tell you what to order.
Still unsure?
Sizing is the single biggest reason cycling apparel gets returned, and it is the thing our staff are best placed to help with. Visit the Adelaide showroom to try before you buy, or email us and we will check the garment measurements for you.
