Bont cycling shoes: heat-moldable construction from a speed skating pedigree
Bont wasn't built as a cycling brand first. It was founded in 1975 in Sydney by Inze Bont, a recreational speed skater who reinforced his own boots with fibreglass to fix a support problem, and grew from there into what's now a leading speed skate brand that later brought the same approach to cycling. Bont was using fibreglass in 1974, Kevlar by 1986, and carbon fibre by 1989, years ahead of most footwear makers in any sport.
What makes them different
Bont's cycling shoes carry over the heat-moldable philosophy from its skating background: rather than expecting your foot to adapt to a fixed shell shape, the shoe's shell itself can be heat-molded to your foot for a closer, more individual fit than most off-the-shelf cycling shoes offer.
What we stock
Our Bont range covers road (Vaypor SL, Vaypor 23, Riot+ 24) and gravel (Riot G), with new models added as Bont releases them.
Fit
Because the shells are heat-moldable, Bont sizing runs differently to other brands on this list. If you haven't worn Bont before, it's worth checking the brand's own size guide rather than assuming your usual cycling shoe size will carry over.
We stock Bont alongside Shimano, Fizik and Northwave in Cycling Shoes. A shipping surcharge applies to shoe orders.
