Northwave cycling shoes: Italian shoemaking heritage applied to the bike

Northwave was founded in 1971 in Montebelluna, Italy, a town at the centre of Italy's footwear manufacturing industry, by Gianni Piva. In 2004 the brand launched its first Gore-Tex cycling shoe, a move credited with giving Northwave a lasting lead in winter and wet-weather cycling footwear that it's held onto for close to two decades. Its patented SLW2 retention system followed in 2013, and a 2015 partnership with Michelin brought purpose-built rubber outsoles to its off-road shoes.

Our Northwave range spans road (Extreme GT4), gravel and everyday riding (Escape Evo, Escape Evo 2, in both standard and women's fit), mountain biking (Rockit Plus, Hammer Plus, Ghost XCM 2, Clan), triathlon (Tribute), and the wider-fit Striker for riders who find standard cycling shoes too narrow, with the range updated as Northwave brings out new models.

Fit

Northwave offers a genuine wide-fit option (Striker Wide) alongside its standard last, worth checking first if you've struggled with narrow toe boxes in other brands.
