More useful than you can imagine
It was the pros who first asked for a Gabba thatâs not as hot as the Gabba but warmer than the Fawesome Vest. So Castelli started from the Gabba and made the back in Nano Light fabric -- the same fabric as their Nano Flex tights but without the brushed fleece inside. This gives the piece a lot of breathability and keeps you from overheating inside. By using a lighter weight of Windstopper® (a full 25% lighter than the one used on the Gabba) on the front the overall weight was further minimised. You may think that this is filling a very small niche. But just try it. It can cover most of the conditions of the Gabba (except wet racing and very cold), yet it handles warmer temperatures better. And the fit is exceptional, which is one more reason youâll keep reaching for it. The consensus of the Castelli test crew is that this piece doesn't fully replace the Gabba or Fawesome, but itâs another arrow in your quiver that is ideally suited to cool temperatures, especially when itâs dry or thereâs a risk of light rain. A wholly new product type that covers 90 percent of the Gabba conditions and 90 percent of the Fawesome conditions and is the ideal garment for spring or autumn rides, with or without rain, with an extremely wide comfort range.
Windstopper and Nano fabric technology
It has the same cut as the Gabba, and all-over water protection, but only the front is in Windstopper® fabric. The front is made in a Windstopper® fabric thatâs lighter than the Gabba. Then on the back a Nano Light Pro fabric, which is highly water repellent and stretchy but has no membrane to inhibit air exchange. The fabric is very tightly knit so you donât feel the wind coming through, but it is open enough to prevent the moisture build up that can happen with the Gabba during intense efforts or when the temperature rises.
Windstopper 150
Light elastic protection from Castelliâs lightest Windstopper three-layer knit fabric. Total windproofness, excellent breathability, functional stretch and DWR coating for water repellency. This fabric has opened up new possibilities in constructing layered garments for enhanced fit, temperature and moisture management.
